SISFA 0 Forth Valley 6
SSFA National Trophy
Meggetland – 25 September 2019

The 2019 – 20 SSFA National under 18 Trophy competition started this week with the first game between the Scottish Independent Schools FA and Forth Valley SFA taking place at Meggetland, Edinburgh on Wednesday 25th September.

Forth Valley ran out eventual 6 – 0 winners to get their campaign off to a winning start in the first of the Group 2 section games. Three further group games are arranged for next week – details to follow.

SISFA keeper Nathan Travers made a good double save in the first minute of the game to prevent his side going behind in the first attack of the game as Forth Valley started brightly.

The home team settled into the game and a long range shot hit the post at one end while the visitors continued to dominate early play at the other end.

Just after the half hour mark Forth Valley broke the deadlock, going ahead when Fraser Maclellan (Wallace HS) fired home from twenty yards with an unstoppable shot.

They added a second goal before half time. From a corner on the left the ball broke to Lucas Williamson (Wallace HS) and the Forth Valley captain slotted home from close in.

SISFA netted just before half time but the goal was chalked off for offside so half time arrived with Forth Valley leading 2 – 0.

The next goal in the game was always going to be vital and Blair Sneddon ( Graeme HS) made it 3- 0 when he cut infield to fire home from the edge of the box.

Fraser Maclellan added two further goals for a well – earned hat trick and Kai Wilson (Graeme HS) netted late on to finish the scoring.

Forth Valley were able to give all their substitutes some game time and SISFA kept going to the end in a game played in good spirit and well handled by the match officials.
