Tony Ventre recognised for long service to schools’ football

Referee Tony Ventre was recently presented with a salver to mark his more than 30 years service to schools' football in Scotland by SSFA President Gillian Duffy and Assistant General Secretary Alastair Borthwick who has the responsibility of referee appointments.

Tony has refereed schools’ football for more than three decades, mainly in Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire.

He has worked with all age groups and competition from primary sixes and sevens, local association leagues and cups to Scottish Shield ties climaxing with an appearance at Hampden Park in the Senior Shield Final.

An appointment running the line to Grade One official Alan Muir at the Under-18 international match, Scotland v Wales at New Douglas Park, completed a full hand of every type of schools’ football match.

A truly magnificent supporter of schools’ football.
