St John’s win Under 13 Shield

St John’s HS, Dundee won the SSFA Under 13 Shield competition against Lornshill Academy, Alloa in the final played at East Fife FC’s home stadium, Bayview , on Friday night.

When Chris Johnston for St John’s HS netted his,and his side’s, second goal in the eighteenth minute of the first half the writing was in the wall for the Lornshill team.

The goal , a well disguised free kick move followed Johnston’s opener in the fifth minute.

Despite a plucky effort the team from Lornshill, unbeaten in a season which saw them win a league and cup double at local level, were unable to prevent a very strong and talented St John’s team from dominating the game.

The match, unfortunately for the large crowd in attendance, was a very one sided affair with the result never in doubt.

Lornshill suffered the loss through injury of goalkeeper Scott Craig and two outfield players as they struggled to cope with the attacking play of St John’s.

Midfielder Craig Johnston certainly left his mark on the game with an excellent performance and winger Louis Tramantans also caught the eye.

Harris Cummins scored a second half consolation goal for his side but St John’s were convincing winners.

At time up SSFA President, Gillian Duffy, presented the winning St John’s HS team with the Shield after a powerful performance.
