Despite numerous late, injury – related call offs and some withdrawals the second area trial in this season’s international boys team trials process took place yesterday at the Toryglen Indoor Regional Football Centre.
International Team Secretary, Les Donaldson MBE, was hard pressed to make all the adjustments necessary but a successful trial took place involving players previously assessed and involving boys from Inverness in the North to Dumfries in the South. Disappointingly, a senior club advised some of its registered players not to attend due to an upcoming cup tie. The situation will need to be resolved ahead of final selection to ensure that all the players who are selected are available for the international match programme and the preparation programme planned for January to April 2020.
The trial game was handled once more by referee Steve Allan and thanks are due to him for his efficient refereeing.
A lengthy meeting followed the game to discuss the performance and the potential of players seen in both area trials, local association National Trophy games and in club team performances.
The list of those selected to attend the Final Trial at Toryglen Indoor Football Centre next Wednesday 11th December at 14.45 has been issued to schools today, 5th December and is available on the website.
The SSFA would wish to thank the players who have not been chosen on this occasion for their participation and wishes them good fortune in the future.
All the best to the players involved in the final trial next week.
