With no schools’ football being played at present, and for the forseeable future, here’s a look back at schools’ football in season 1997-1998.
Welcome from SSFA President Bob Docherty

This season was one of the most successful seasons in the history of the SSFA.
Our Under 15 National Squad won six out of seven international games making them British Champions. Our Under 18s competed in the Centenary Shield for the first time in eleven years and almost won the tournament.
Larbert High School won the Senior Shield beating Holyrood Secondary School 3-1 in a keenly contested final at Hampden Park. Holyrood were favourites having previously won the U13, U14 and U15 Shields.
John Ogilvie won the Under 16 Shield. St Margaret’s High School, Airdrie the Under 15 Shield. Torry Academy won the very first Girls’ under 15 Shield. St Patrick’s High School, Coatbridge the Under 14 Shield and Musselburgh Grammar the Under 13 Shield.
My congratulations and best wishes to all school footballers throughout the country, whether winners or not, who undoubtedly get a great deal of pleasure from their involvement in the greatest game in the world!
