As we approach the festive period, I thought it would be a good time to update you on the work being done by the Association in providing footballing opportunities and experiences for youngsters cross the country.
A lot of work has been done in organising the International programme for the season ahead for both the Boys Under 18’s and Girls Under 15’s squads.
Preparation days, travel, accommodation, kit and match days all require a phenomenal amount of planning and these are done meticulously by the volunteers of the Association.
After using National Trophy games to identify boys of International standard to be invited to Toryglen for the East and West trials, the final trial took place recently.
I would like to extend my warm congratulations to the boys who have been selected for this seasons squad. I am sure they will enjoy the experience and will no doubt make life-long friends and memories over the coming months.
The Girls trial system reached its conclusion on Friday 20th December at Toryglen. After the final trial, the squad for this seasons games was selected.
I would like to extend my warm congratulations to the girls selected for this seasons squad. I am sure they will enjoy the experience and will no doubt make life-long friends and memories over the coming months.
To those boys and girls who participated in the trials, I wish them every success for the future in both football and their careers.
Our National Shield and Plate competitions have been progressing well and a number of quarter finalists are now known. Results and future fixtures can be viewed on our website – www.scottishschoolsfa.co.uk
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers in our schools who offer football opportunities for our young people.
As we move into the next decade, there is a lot to look forward to in Scottish Schools’ Football.
Hopefully the weather is kind to us, allowing our work to go ahead unhindered. I look forward to watching many great games of Schools football in the coming months and seeing some of the stars of the future show their skills.
Thank you to our team of hard working volunteers at the Association whose dedication and enthusiasm continues to offer opportunities to young footballers around the country.
Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2020.
