Former St Mungo’s Academy pupil, John Marenghi, won the Under 15 Shield in 1964 beating Tynecastle High School 3-1 over a two leg final. The first leg a 1-1 draw at Tynecastle Park and the second leg a 2-0 win for St Mungo’s Academy at Celtic Park.
Over the years, however, John had mislaid his winners medal. His son in law Graham Smith contacted the SSFA to see if he could get a replacement. We were delighted to help and last Friday, at Hampden Park, John was re-presented with a replacement medal by SSFA Hon. Treasurer Alex McMenemy.
