Gillian Duffy – President SSFA

The Scottish Schools FA are delighted to announce Greenock's Gillian Duffy was elected as our First Woman President at our recent AGM

Saturday 17th June 2023 will go down in the history books of the Scottish Schools’ FA with the appointment of Gillian Duffy as its first ever Woman President.

Gillian’s tremendous work with Paisley and District Schools, her work as Under 15 Girls International Coach and her well known steely determination saw her unanimously elected as President for the next 2 years.  Gillian steps into the roll after having served as vice-president for the past two years.

International Team Secretary Les Donaldson said: “There is no doubt in my mind that she will do an amazing job as she is so determined, so enthusiastic, so hard working and very supportive of all who know her. These aspects of her character will stand her in good stead for the rigours involved in her new post.  We wish her well”

Gillian commented: “It is an honour to be elected president of the Scottish Schools’ FA. I hope that any young person seeing this is given the confidence to dream big and understand that there is no one fixed path to follow to achieve their ambitions.

“When I started volunteering in football it was to allow others to have opportunities that were not available to me growing up.

“During my time as President I hope to build on the work done by my colleagues across Scotland and continue to grow the game for all.

“Finally I would like to thank all the people who volunteer in schools football where young people make friendships and memories that last a lifetime.”

Gillian's first role as newly elected President was to hand over the Boys Under 15 National Trophy to the captain of Paisley & District Schools FA at Bayview Stadium
