Forth Valley Seniors Secure First Win

Forth Valley, holders of the Scottish Cup for inter association competition, managed a win yesterday in difficult windy conditions at Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir.

West Lothian, playing in their first game of this year’s competition, took an early lead after an even first ten minutes of play. Lucas Stenhouse, an international cap last season made a clever run into the box and scored with a well placed shot.

The home team hit back quickly to equalise. West Lothian missed the chance to clear their lines and the ball ended up with Paul O’Hara who from only seven yards out made sure of his goal.

With the wind at their backs Forth Valley were mainly on top and they took the lead after 22 minutes when forward Greg Harrower netted from close in with a rebounded effort.

After the turn around it was Forth Valley who scored to increase their lead. Mid fielder Callum Gemmell scored following a good dribbling run into the box in the 49th minute.

West Lothian hit back however when Forward Sam Featherstone hit a powerful wind assisted free kick from 20 yards which beat keeper Thomas Kay under his cross bar.

A close finish to the game looked likely but Findlay Barr struck a well hit diagonal shot from just outside the box to restore a two goal lead for Forth Valley in the 66th minute.

Greg Harrower added his second goal and FVSFA’s fifth goal in the 75th minute.

West Lothian has two remaining group section games against Lanarkshire and Fife while Forth Valley meet Lanarkshire on Thursday 23rd November again at Ochilview 1.45 kick off in their final group game.
