Fife Seniors Notch Another Win

Fife SFA u 18 side secured a second win in their SSFA National Cup campaign for this season with a comfortable 4 – 0 home win at New Bayview Stadium, Methil against visitors Lanarkshire SFA.

Lanarkshire were playing in their first game of the season and they were disappointed not to be able to extend their opponents a bit more.

After an even opening ten minutes it was Finlay Allan who scored with an 18 yard effort for the Fife side. From a corner in the 20th minute the visitor’s defence failed to cope with the cross and centre half Matthew Johnston headed home to make the score 2 – 0.

Sam Martin, operating on the right wing, had shown some good touches and he scored Fife’s third goal before half time with a clever chipped effort to beat keeper Evan Anderson.

Lanarkshire made a few changes at half time and certainly made the second half a more competitive affair. They could not however seriously threaten keeper Owain Clark in the Fife goal.

Wide forward Stuart McDowell had performed well through out and he scored the final goal with ten minutes to play when an attempted clearance struck him and bounced into the unguarded net.

Six points from six puts Fife in a strong qualifying position. Lanarkshire will play West Lothian on Thursday 17th November at Bothwell Hall at 1.00pm and will be looking for an improved performance.

Forth Valley host West Lothian on Thursday 10th November at Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir with a 1.45 pm kick off.

Last week Dundee SFA met Aberdeen City SFA at Broughty Ferry and came out on top with a 1 – 0 win.
