Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football E-Learning

Football should be fun, inclusive and a safe environment for children. In order to promote this, the Scottish FA has created an e-learning course Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football.

This e-learning, policies and procedures and safeguards will give you additional support materials to keep children safe in football.

Coaching Pathways given 2020 restructure

Aspiring Scottish football coaches are set to benefit from a revamp to the Scottish FA coaching course structure – one that will reflect the demands of the modern game.

The redevelopment of the Scottish FA Coach Education pathways is designed to cater for the rapidly evolving modern game, with two significant developments in the early stages of the pathway.

A brand new ‘Introduction to Coaching’ course has been introduced at the start of each of our four coaching pathways, replacing all previously existing Level 1.1 courses to bring the pathways in line with one another at the first stage.

All courses will also become more manageable and accessible through the increased use of online user friendly coaching tools and will put player’s needs at the heart of the restructure.

The change aims to encourage more coaches to progress up the pathway but does not have any impact on those who have already started their coaching journey. Simply put, there will be no backward steps for anyone, regardless of their current progress on the pathway.

SFA on-line workshop on Child Protection

As a service to those involved in youth age football, the Scottish FA has developed an on-line workshop on Child Protection matters within the context of football. While undertaking this workshop is mandatory for those involved with clubs it is not mandatory for teachers working with school children in a schools’ context because of the ongoing job-related Child Protection engagement. Nonetheless, the Scottish FA workshop would be a useful addition to the professional profile of any teacher and the Scottish Schools’ FA would wish to encourage teachers currently undertaking school football activities to consider participating in the on-line training as part of their Professional Development.

The Scottish FA on-line course is free, comprises five ten minute modules and can be accessed via the Scottish F.A. Football Admin. System by going to:

Please note that each individual needs to create an account if that has not already been done. Once logged into the system, the course can be found in coach education-courses-children’s wellbeing in Scottish football e-learning.
